We live in what I like to call the Age of Outrage. It’s a society that profits off of anger, despair, and depression. You can see it in the mainstream media, on social media, and even in most popular entertainment. Everyone is depressed about something, and if you’re depressed long enough, this state of mind becomes your default. When it becomes your default, when your brain is trained through your thoughts, and the things you speak over your life — it can be difficult to step out of this mode of thought. You can become trapped in it.
Choose to think differently today. When you find yourself trapped in negative thinking, take out a piece of paper or get a journal and write down everything that is making you depressed. Then, take those thoughts captive — answer these thoughts with positive affirmations about yourself. If you’re worried about the state of the world, remind yourself that you’re strong enough to survive it. Choose to make positivity your default.
