Life is like a game of chess. You’re either a player or you’re the pawn. The players are those with money, power, and influence — the only things one needs to shift and distort narratives to one’s favor. The pawns are those without money, easily susceptible to manipulations of the players.
This is why it is important to think critically. I may not have a lot of money, but I do have a discerning spirit that keeps me away from being deceived or misled — this is what really separates leaders from followers. To be a leader and not an “influencer” or a “follower”: To know right from wrong, right from left, and act on this knowledge. Leaders walk with integrity, serve others, and promote positivity. “Influencers” aren’t leaders but are really just “followers leading followers” — the blind leading the blind, neither of whom have any idea where they’re going. They follow whoever and whatever is trending. The players of this chess game called life determine what information is released, and what isn’t. I must avoid such people and be a leader. The metric I follow is this: If it isn’t biblical, if it doesn’t promote righteous living, then I’m not going to be a part of it. I won’t support or patronize it. Period. These are the things that I must always remember as I undertake this journey of wholeness.
