Why do we like to talk about other people? For example, when one person — maybe someone we grew up with — achieves success we tend to either: 1) Harbor jealousy towards that person or 2) Idolize that person and look at them as more than human; neither of which are productive mindsets to have.

Jealousy is obviously a toxic emotion but idolizing other human beings is just as toxic. Think about it! Why do you need to worship people for their successes when you are just as capable of achieving greatness?

In addition, do you even know the sacrifices they had to make to achieve what they had to achieve? The moral compromises they possibly could have made? Don’t talk about other people’s successes, but instead focus on who and where you were yesterday and be better than that person — instead of trying to be like someone else.
